Elizabeth (Lilly)
Born: Rouchel Brook 1849
Died Parramatta NSW 1913
Elizabeth was born at Rouchel in December 1849, the second daughter and sixth child of Thomas and Mary Spencer. It is recorded on Elizabeth’s baptism certificate, that her father was a shepherd at Bingeberry, Rouchel Brook.
Elizabeth was a beauty and in 1873 married William (Billy) Frost of Wollombi, the son of a convict, a horse breaker and stockman and a road maintenance man at various times of his life.
The wedding was held at the home of Thomas Spencer, ‘Rouchel Vale’ and reported in the Maitland Mercury as ‘was one of the grandest events that has ever taken place in this neighbourhood and where I found the whole of the residents suffering a recovery, after a grand wedding which took place last week.’
Elizabeth and William lived for a time in Aberdeen and Hill St Muswellbrook, producing eleven children, one of whom, a twin, Olive Susan died at 3 months from bronchitis.
Possibly around 1900, though the reason is not clear, Elizabeth and her family moved to Parramatta. Elizabeth died at the Parramatta District Hospital in 1913 and is buried in Paramatta, together with William.
